If you have any questions, please stop by the store and we will do our best to fill in the gaps. We are excited, however, that this will also allow us the opportunity to increase our stock of independent and small press comics. Unfortunately, it is just not cost-effective for Carpe Diem Comics to partner with DC’s new distribution network. We realize that this is disappointing news for our loyal DC Comics customers, and please know that it is disappointing for us as well. We currently do not expect to receive anything after July 1 st, but will continue to keep everyone updated as we get new information. We do not know when our final shipment of DC product will be received as DC has not yet communicated when the final shipments will be sent out via Diamond. We will receive any product ordered before June 1 st from Diamond, but will not be able to order any new single-issue comics with a later order date. We will also continue carrying DC Comics amongst our back issues. We will continue to carry graphic novels and trade paperbacks from DC as they are available through a third-party distributor. This announcement came without warning to comic book retailers across the country.Īfter reviewing sales data, increased costs relating to how the new distributors will be shipping, and the lack of automated order entry which will require numerous additional hours each week entering each DC Comic manually into our system, Lys and Shado have made the very tough decision to stop carrying printed periodicals published by DC Comics. On Friday, June 6 th, 2020, DC Comics announced the end of its 25-year relationship with Diamond Comics, effective immediately. And if you ever feel we are not living up to our end of this declaration, call us out. Now is the time for our country to be better.īlack Lives are safe here.

If there’s anything we at Carpe Diem believe, it is that we can always be better. That unity cannot happen while people only see superficial differences and use those differences to fan the flames of hatred. Many of the heroes that comic book fans venerate were created to help get the point across that humanity needs to unite to become the best we can be. This is the chance for our country to move beyond the close-minded hatred that has violently taken too many lives too soon. We believe that the American Experiment was flawed at the outset, but this is our chance to fix that. Lys and Shado strongly believe that all lives will not matter until Black Lives Matter. The time has come for us to remove this way of thinking once and for all. Today we still have rampant racism and color-based schisms in the United States. 155 years ago today, slaves in Texas were the last in the country to receive the news that they had been emancipated.
